Unaffiliated Candidate for Crowley County Commissioner District 3

I am a third-generation farmer and stockman. I have deep roots in hard work, responsibility, and accountability.

I’ve run into folks who ask me, ‘Why are you running for office?’ or ‘Why are you wanting to be a commissioner?’ I believe I can interject ideas, as well as solutions, to issues that Crowley County faces, and I'm a firm believer that county commissioners can make a difference.

My junior high social studies teacher, Lucky Ashida, in Crowley, Colorado made an impression on me. He encouraged our class to become civic-minded, to better the lot of those around us, and to be an active part of our community.

I graduated from Crowley County High School in 1970 and graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in political science in 1974. My wife and I returned to Crowley County to begin our careers and raise our family.

I went to work for the National Park Service at Bent's Old Fort and in 1987, went to work for Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility until my retirement in 2010.

I was appointed Crowley County Lay Judge by Governor Hickenlooper in 2017 until my retirement in 2023.

I have a vested interest in the economic and social fiber of rural Colorado, and as county commissioner, I will be an active voice in preserving rural Colorado's way of life by monitoring state legislation that directly affects Crowley County.
